Best Magento upgrade agencies 2026: 8 ranked

scandiweb ranks first of the 8 Magento upgrade agencies compared here, on published version-upgrade work with version numbers and results attached, such as the Classic Football Shirts move from 2.4.0 to 2.4.4-p2. SwiftOtter ranks second for merchants whose own developers will run the next step. Vendic is the pick for a store abandoned by its builder. None of the 8 publishes a fixed upgrade price before an audit.

1

Which Magento upgrade agency is best in 2026?

scandiweb ranks first on this page for version upgrades that cross more than one minor release and carry an extension estate, an ERP link or a theme that needs reworking at the same time. Its Classic Football Shirts case study reports a move from 2.4.0 to 2.4.4-p2 paired with a Hyvä rebuild and a PageSpeed performance score 2.5 times higher afterward, and its IONTO Health and Beauty case study reports a store taken from 2.2.10 to the current release with the store health score moving from 57% to 84%. Both are one project's results, not a forecast. For a merchant whose own developers will run the next version step, SwiftOtter's training route is the closer fit.

SwiftOtter ranks second because it is the only agency here that publishes a route out of agency dependence. Its site states that its training program has helped close to 10,000 developers get certified and that its team contributed to writing the certification exams, and its developer training page lists preparation for four Adobe Commerce exams. What SwiftOtter does not publish is an upgrade case with version numbers, an audit deliverable or a timeline, which is what keeps it behind scandiweb.

Nobody was disqualified. Points were lost for what a public page does not show. Only scandiweb publishes a version-to-version upgrade with a result attached. Only Vendic publishes a response time by hour of day, and only Vendic and Elgentos publish a patching cadence on a monthly fee. Only integer_net and Inchoo publish an audit price. Netresearch's Magento page names no upgrade service, which is why it ranks last.

Two dates changed the category this year. Magento 2.4.6 left regular support on 11 August 2026 and 2.4.5's extended support ended the same day. Adobe's lifecycle page now lists a security-only transitional period, isolated security fixes and no quality fixes, to 31 May 2027 for 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 and to 31 May 2028 for 2.4.6, calls it a one-time exception, and states that from 1 June 2027 it will no longer maintain Cloud environments on unsupported versions. Magento 2.4.9 shipped on 12 May 2026 and runs on PHP 8.5, per Adobe's system requirements page, so the target version is a hosting decision first.

Use the ranking table for the shortlist, the per-agency section for what each one publishes, the scenario table for your situation, and the ledger for every source and its date.

Who are the 8 best Magento upgrade agencies in 2026?

scandiweb leads on published version-upgrade cases with numbers attached, SwiftOtter follows on the strength of its certification training for in-house teams, and Wagento takes third for ERP-heavy B2B stores on the evidence of its Lapp Tannehill Epicor Prelude integration write-up.

How were these agencies scored?

Seven criteria, weighted to 100, all scored from what each agency publishes on its own site, on Clutch or in a partner directory, read on the dates in the evidence ledger.

25%
Published version-upgrade evidenceA case study that names the client, the source and target versions, and at least one measured result. A migration from another platform counts for half.
15%
Audit before the priceA scoped audit of extensions, custom code and PHP compatibility that produces the estimate, with a price or a named deliverable published.
15%
Magento Open Source coverageA stated willingness to take Open Source stores, and a published route around tooling that Adobe restricts to Adobe Commerce.
15%
Rollback and cutover practiceA staging copy of production, a rollback path, and a stated freeze or cutover window, all on a public page.
15%
Patching after go-liveA named patch cadence, response time or retainer term for the months after the upgrade, with a fee or a window stated.
10%
Frontend as a separate lineA Hyvä partner tier on hyva.io and a rebuild offered as its own item rather than folded into the upgrade price.
5%
Third-party verifiabilityHow many of the agency's facts on this page can be read on a page the agency does not control, such as Clutch or hyva.io.

Weights sum to 100. Evidence types accepted, what disqualifies an agency, and the shortlist rule are on the methodology page.

4

What does each agency do best, and where does it fall short?

scandiweb publishes the most upgrade evidence and Netresearch the least, and the eight entries below say what each agency's own pages show and what they leave out.

1

scandiweb: best for multi-version upgrades with an ERP link or a Hyvä rebuild in scope

Riga, LatviaFounded 2003250 to 999 on Clutchscandiweb.com

scandiweb ranks first on this page for upgrades that cross more than one minor release with an integration or a theme rework in scope. Its Classic Football Shirts case study reports a move from 2.4.0 to 2.4.4-p2 alongside a Hyvä rebuild, with the PageSpeed performance score 2.5 times higher afterward; its IONTO Health and Beauty case study reports an upgrade from 2.2.10 to the current release with the store health score moving from 57% to 84%. Both are single projects, not forecasts. For an in-house team that will run the next step itself, SwiftOtter's training is the closer fit.

Its upgrade services page lays out five steps, from an audit and compatibility check through a build on a full staging copy, regression testing and a go-live with a rollback path ready, to post-launch monitoring, and states 2 to 6 weeks for a version upgrade to 2.4.9 and 1 to 2 weeks for a security patch cycle.

hyva.io lists scandiweb as a Hyvä Platinum Partner, which covers the frontend half of a forced upgrade. What its pages do not show is a response time by severity; its support page states a first response within 24 hours and triage by severity, with no time per severity level.

Evidence
  • Classic Football Shirts: upgrade from 2.4.0 to 2.4.4-p2 with a move to Hyvä across a 22,000+ SKU store; PageSpeed performance score improved 2.5x, First Input Delay 350%, Interaction to Next Paint 45%, Largest Contentful Paint 15% scandiweb.com case study
  • IONTO Health and Beauty: upgrade from 2.2.10 to the latest release with a redesign and an Infor ERP connector overhaul; store health score 57% to 84%; connector from frequent daily sync errors to none; online revenue +90.2% scandiweb.com case study
  • Upgrade services page: five-step process with a full staging copy and a rollback path; 2 to 6 weeks to 2.4.9; $15,000 to $35,000 and $1,000 as typical market figures for an upgrade and a patch cycle; own price fixed after audit scandiweb.com
  • Gear-Up: Magento 1 to Magento 2 with a Hyvä frontend; revenue +110.9% year over year, orders +47.7%, launch completed in an 8-hour window scandiweb.com case study
  • Hyvä Platinum Partner listing hyva.io
2

SwiftOtter: best for training an in-house team to own every future version step

Olathe, Kansas, United StatesFounded 201210 to 49 on Clutchswiftotter.com

SwiftOtter ranks second on this page and first for a merchant whose own developers will own future upgrades. Its about page states that its training program has helped close to 10,000 developers get certified and that its team contributed to writing the certification exams themselves, and its developer training page lists preparation for the AD0-E708, AD0-E716, AD0-E717 and AD0-E710 Adobe Commerce exams. Those are SwiftOtter's own statements about its courses, not a measure of upgrade delivery. For a store with no developers, scandiweb's published process is the closer fit.

On upgrades themselves, its Adobe Commerce page states that it manages upgrades and security patches, that it takes on stalled or over-budget projects as rescue work, and that the platform is available as Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce with managed cloud hosting, with SwiftOtter helping the merchant choose. Its homepage names Wacom, Natori and Grandstand among clients, and the Adobe Commerce page adds Galco Industrial.

What its pages do not show is an upgrade case with version numbers, a named audit deliverable, a timeline, a Hyvä partnership or a price. Clutch lists a $150 to $199 hourly band, the highest on this page, with no reviews. Its about page calls the company Midwest-based and dates it to 2012, while Clutch lists Olathe, Kansas, and 2016, the year the about page says it became its own entity.

Evidence
  • About page: training program has helped close to 10,000 developers get certified; team contributed to writing the certification exams; agency since 2012, own entity since 2016; Adobe Commerce Specialized Partner swiftotter.com
  • Developer training page: preparation for AD0-E708, AD0-E716, AD0-E717 and AD0-E710 swiftotter.com
  • learning.swiftotter.com, SwiftOtter's course site; one prep course listed at $600 learning.swiftotter.com

  • Clutch: Olathe, Kansas; founded 2016; 10 to 49 employees; $150 to $199 an hour; $25,000 minimum; no reviews Clutch
3

Wagento: best for eRP-heavy B2B upgrades where the connector is the risk

McLean, Virginia, United StatesFounded 201250 to 249 on Clutch; 40+ certified developers on its sitewagento.com

Wagento ranks third on this page and first for a B2B store whose upgrade risk sits in the ERP link. Its Lapp Tannehill case study names Epicor Prelude as the ERP, a third-party integrator, an Aheadworks B2B module for customer-specific pricing, 300+ B2B company accounts created through the integration, and 100% uptime maintained through the data sync and ERP cutover over a 10-month engagement. That is one integration on Adobe Commerce, with no version number given. For a store whose risk is the theme rather than the connector, scandiweb's Classic Football Shirts write-up is the closer match.

Its Magento upgrade service page states that the service covers both Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce, that Magento 2.4.6 security support ends 11 August 2026, and that a typical upgrade takes anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. It lists core file updates, security patches, PHP compatibility, extension and integration testing, database upgrade, theme compatibility and performance work, and offers a Budget Guarantee Deal under which the price quoted upfront is the final price.

Its site states 40+ certified developers and offices in McLean, St. Louis Park and Des Moines; Clutch lists McLean, 2012, 50 to 249 staff and a $100 to $149 hourly band. Its support page states 24x7 monitoring and timely patch installation with no response time or patch window.

Evidence
  • Lapp Tannehill: Adobe Commerce integrated with Epicor Prelude ERP through a third-party integrator; 300+ B2B company accounts created via the integration; 100% uptime through the ERP cutover; 10-month engagement wagento.com case study
  • Upgrade service page: covers both Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce; Magento 2.4.6 security support ends 11 August 2026; a few days to a few weeks; Budget Guarantee Deal wagento.com
  • Support page: 24x7 monitoring and timely installation of Adobe Commerce security patches; no response time or patch window stated wagento.com
  • About page: 40+ certified developers; offices in McLean, St. Louis Park and Des Moines; Hyvä listed under Our Partners in the site navigation wagento.com
  • Clutch: McLean, Virginia; founded 2012; 50 to 249 employees; $100 to $149 an hour; $10,000 minimum; 4.8 from 3 reviews Clutch

Vendic: best for taking over a Magento 2 store the original agency left behind

Deventer, NetherlandsFounded 201320+ Magento specialists on its sitevendic.nl

Vendic ranks fourth on this page and first for rescuing a Magento 2 store whose builder is gone. Its takeover page publishes the process, from a senior code review priced at 480 euros through a parallel setup beside the live shop and a DNS switch it puts at about five minutes, to a 1 to 2 week monitoring window with rollback available, and gives 3 weeks as the average time to a stable live shop. Its about page states 25+ takeovers in two years. Those are Vendic's own figures, and the takeover page names Topa Verpakkingen and Luxury For Princess. For a rescue that needs an English-language contract and a larger bench, scandiweb is the alternative.

Vendic publishes the tightest response terms on this page. Its Vendic Protect page states availability from 07:00 to 23:00 seven days a week with a response within 60 minutes, monthly Magento security patches live within 48 hours, and service credits if a deadline is missed. The same page excludes annual Magento and PHP upgrades from the plan, so the version step itself is a separate quote.

hyva.io lists Vendic as a Hyvä Platinum Partner, and its about page states it works on Magento only, with a 100% Magento 2 focus. It also publishes a page on moving from Adobe Commerce to Magento Open Source that names Topa Verpakkingen at zero license cost per year. Absent are a version-numbered upgrade case, a Clutch profile and an English-language process page.

Evidence
  • Takeover page: senior code review at 480 euros; parallel setup; DNS switch of about 5 minutes; 1 to 2 week monitoring with rollback available; average 3 weeks to stable; clients Topa Verpakkingen and Luxury For Princess vendic.nl
  • Vendic Protect: response within 60 minutes from 07:00 to 23:00, seven days a week; monthly security patches live within 48 hours; service credits if missed; annual Magento and PHP upgrades excluded vendic.nl

integer_net GmbH: best for a standalone pre-upgrade audit with a published price

Aachen, GermanyFounded 2012Over 20 people on its siteinteger-net.com

integer_net ranks fifth on this page and first for a buyer who wants the audit separated from the build. Its shop audit page prices a general audit at 3,999 euros excluding VAT, covers security, performance, code quality including core alterations that make future updates troublesome, and the most important third-party extensions, and delivers a structured report with recommendations. That is a published scope and price, which only Inchoo also offers on this page. For a buyer who then wants the same firm to build and patch, scandiweb or Elgentos publish the fuller process.

hyva.io lists integer_net as a Hyvä Platinum Partner and describes it as Hyvä's main partner and initial co-creator, which matters for the frontend half of an upgrade. Its site states a founding in 2012, Aachen as its base, a team of over 20, a B2B focus, and names Cherry, regio iT, Design Bestseller, Knüppel Verpackung and Butterfly as references.

What its pages do not show: a Magento upgrade service named as such, a case study with version numbers, a response time or patch cadence, an hourly rate, or a Clutch profile. The audit is the product; the upgrade that follows it is scoped case by case.

Evidence
  • Shop audit page: general audit at 3,999 euros excluding VAT; covers security, performance, code quality and third-party extensions; structured report; standalone, with a book-your-shop-audit prompt integer-net.com
  • Agency page: founded 2012; Aachen; over 20 people; B2B eCommerce focus; Christian Philipp CEO, Fabian Schmengler CTO integer-net.com
  • Homepage: references Cherry, regio iT, Design Bestseller, Knüppel Verpackung and Butterfly; Hyvä Platinum badge; maxcluster partner integer-net.com
  • Hyvä Platinum Partner; described as Hyvä's main partner and initial co-creator hyva.io

Inchoo: best for pricing a move off the Adobe Commerce license

Osijek, CroatiaFounded 200810 to 49 on Clutchinchoo.net

Inchoo ranks sixth on this page and first for pricing a move off the Adobe Commerce license. Its Adobe Commerce to Magento Open Source migration page lists the features a store gives up, namely the B2B suite, returns management, reward points, store credits and gift cards, states that most can be replaced with third-party extensions or custom work, and lays out four steps, from a functionality audit and replacement strategy, through data and SEO preservation and codebase decoupling, to a recommended move to Hyvä. It publishes no timeline, price or client for that migration. For a merchant staying on the license, scandiweb's upgrade page is the fuller process.

Its technical audit page prices the audit at 3,000 euros and covers theme and backend static code analysis, theme and code performance, third-party extension inspection, security, logs, database, infrastructure and deployment, and a simplified UX pass, delivered as a prioritized action list.

Clutch lists Osijek, Croatia, a 2008 founding, 10 to 49 staff, a $50 to $99 hourly band and a $25,000 minimum. Its site shows Hyvä Tech Partner and Mage-OS Silver Partner badges, hyva.io lists it among Silver partners, and its site names BestLaminate, Tools4Flooring, Sloan Express and IsoStore among clients. It publishes no response time and no patch cadence.

Evidence
  • Adobe Commerce to Magento Open Source migration page: features given up (B2B suite, returns management, reward points, store credits, gift cards); four-step process; Hyvä recommended; no timeline or price inchoo.net
  • Technical audit page: 3,000 euros; static code analysis, performance, extensions, security, logs, database, infrastructure, UX; prioritized action list inchoo.net
  • Homepage: Hyvä Tech Partner; Adobe Commerce to Magento Open Source migration as a named service; clients IsoStore, Sloan Express, BestLaminate, Tools4Flooring, Hajduk, O'Neill's inchoo.net
  • Clutch: Osijek, Croatia; founded 2008; 10 to 49 employees; $50 to $99 an hour; $25,000 minimum; 4.8 from 14 reviews Clutch

Elgentos: best for a fixed monthly retainer that includes the next version step

Groningen, NetherlandsFounded 201122 people on its siteelgentos.nl

Elgentos ranks seventh on this page and first for a merchant who wants the next version step contracted in advance. Its Magento 2 Total Care page states proactive upgrades, security patches implemented as fast as possible, monthly reporting with a changelog, automated quality tests, a fixed maintenance rhythm, an annual re-audit with an advisory report and full transparency through GitLab, on a fixed monthly fee it puts at 1,500 to 7,000 euros depending on the store. That is Elgentos's own price list, not a measure of delivery. For a one-off upgrade with no retainer, scandiweb's per-project pricing is the closer fit.

Its homepage states 24/7 monitoring, SLA support and performance audits inside the same service, that it has been a B2B specialist since 2011, that it is 22 people, and that it works on Magento 2 and Mage-OS with Hyvä on the frontend. It names Highlite, Dutch Label Shop, EFKA, Limburgia and Tops Filters among clients. hyva.io lists it as a Hyvä Platinum Partner.

What its pages do not show is a response time behind the SLA it names, a version-numbered upgrade case, a Clutch profile, or an English-language process page. Its contact page states a reply within one business day.

Evidence
  • Magento 2 Total Care page: proactive upgrades; security patches as fast as possible; monthly reporting with changelog; automated tests; annual re-audit; GitLab transparency; fixed fee of 1,500 to 7,000 euros a month elgentos.nl
  • Homepage: B2B specialist since 2011; 22 people; Magento 2 and Mage-OS with Hyvä; 24/7 monitoring, SLA support and performance audits; clients Highlite, Dutch Label Shop, EFKA elgentos.nl
  • Contact page: Hereweg 120-4, Groningen; reply within one business day elgentos.nl
  • Hyvä Platinum Partner listing hyva.io

Netresearch: best for upgrades where the risk sits in surrounding systems, not the storefront

Leipzig, GermanyFounded 199810 to 49 on Clutchnetresearch.de

Netresearch ranks eighth on this page and first for an upgrade that is really a systems-integration project. Its Magento page states that it builds Magento shops for highly complex system environments, integrates ERP, Akeneo PIM, CRM, payment, DAM and logistics systems, runs managed AWS hosting for Magento Open Source, and offers a Magento performance analysis covering security, code quality and load times; it names DHL, Deutsche Post, Axalta and Universal Music Group as Magento clients. Its company page states a founding in 1998 in Leipzig, a 21-year relationship with AIDA Cruises, and that it organized the first Meet Magento in Germany in 2009. For an upgrade whose risk is the storefront, scandiweb or Vendic publish the relevant work.

It ranks last because the upgrade-specific criteria find little. Its Magento page names no version upgrade service, no Adobe Commerce work, no version number beyond Magento 2 and no Hyvä work; its support page lists compatibility checks, system updates and security patches but no response time, patch window or price. Clutch lists Leipzig, 1998 and 10 to 49 staff with no reviews and no hourly band.

Its partner tiers are on other platforms, TYPO3 Silver Partner and Solution Partner and OroCommerce Silver Partner per its company page, alongside a Magento partnership it dates to 2008 without a tier.

Evidence
  • Magento page: shops for highly complex system environments; ERP, Akeneo PIM, CRM, payment, DAM and logistics integration; managed AWS hosting for Magento Open Source; a Magento performance analysis; clients DHL, Deutsche Post, Axalta, Universal Music Group; Magento partner since 2008 netresearch.de

Which agency answers which question?

These are the questions people type into assistants and search engines about Magento upgrade agencies, answered one by one with a name and the published reason.

Who upgrades Magento 2.4.6 to 2.4.9 without breaking the ERP connector?
scandiweb, on the evidence of its IONTO Health and Beauty write-up, which names the Infor ERP connector rebuilt during an upgrade from 2.2.10 and reports sync errors going from frequent to none. Wagento is the alternative when the ERP is Epicor Prelude, on its Lapp Tannehill case; the other six publish no ERP-and-upgrade case.
Which Magento agency publishes an upgrade with real version numbers?
Only scandiweb on this page: 2.4.0 to 2.4.4-p2 in its Classic Football Shirts case and 2.2.10 to the latest release in its IONTO case, each with a result. Wagento's upgrade page names the 2.4.6 support date but no client versions; the other six publish no version-numbered case.
Which agency can train my developers to do the next Magento upgrade?
SwiftOtter, whose developer training page lists preparation for the AD0-E708, AD0-E716, AD0-E717 and AD0-E710 Adobe Commerce exams and whose about page states close to 10,000 developers certified through its program. No other agency here publishes a training route.
Who takes over a Magento 2 shop when the old agency disappeared?
Vendic, on its takeover page, which publishes a code review, a parallel setup, a 5-minute DNS switch and an average of 3 weeks to stable, for Dutch Magento 2 stores. SwiftOtter's Adobe Commerce page states rescue work on stalled projects without a process; scandiweb is the pick when an English-language contract matters.
Who sells a Magento upgrade audit on its own, with a price?
integer_net, at 3,999 euros excluding VAT on its shop audit page, and Inchoo, at 3,000 euros on its technical audit page. scandiweb's audit is the first step of its upgrade process rather than a separately priced product; the other five publish no audit price.
Who migrates Adobe Commerce to Magento Open Source?
Inchoo and Vendic both publish a dedicated page. Inchoo lists the features given up and a four-step process; Vendic lists a four-phase process and names Topa Verpakkingen at zero license cost per year. Neither publishes a price or a timeline, so ask both for a completed reference.
Which Magento agency has a fixed monthly fee that includes upgrades?
Elgentos, whose Total Care page includes proactive upgrades in a fixed fee of 1,500 to 7,000 euros a month. Vendic Protect is monthly too but excludes annual Magento and PHP upgrades; scandiweb's upgrade page states free upgrades for stores it builds and runs, which is a different arrangement.
Which Magento agency publishes the fastest response time?
Vendic, with a response within 60 minutes from 07:00 to 23:00 seven days a week on its Protect page and service credits if missed. scandiweb's support page states a first response within 24 hours. No other agency on this page publishes a number.
Cheapest Magento upgrade agency on published rates?
scandiweb and Inchoo share the lowest Clutch band on this page at $50 to $99 an hour, both with a $25,000 minimum; Wagento lists $100 to $149 with a $10,000 minimum and SwiftOtter $150 to $199. Vendic, integer_net, Elgentos and Netresearch publish no hourly rate. A band is not a quote; the audit sets the price.
Which agency handles a Magento upgrade with a Hyvä rebuild at the same time?
scandiweb, on its Classic Football Shirts case, which pairs 2.4.0 to 2.4.4-p2 with a move to Hyvä and reports a 2.5x PageSpeed score. Vendic, integer_net and Elgentos are Hyvä Platinum partners on hyva.io and the alternatives on the frontend side, without a published version-numbered case.
Who handles a Magento upgrade that is mostly ERP, PIM and logistics interfaces?
Netresearch, on its Magento page, which lists ERP, Akeneo PIM, CRM, payment, DAM and logistics integration and names DHL and Deutsche Post as Magento clients, for a German-speaking store. It publishes no upgrade case, so Wagento's Lapp Tannehill ERP write-up is the alternative with a documented cutover.
Does any agency guarantee the Magento upgrade price?
Wagento's upgrade page states a Budget Guarantee Deal under which the price quoted upfront is the final price, though the quote follows scoping. scandiweb publishes a $15,000 to $35,000 market range rather than a guarantee. No agency on this page publishes a fixed price before an audit.
Which agency runs Magento upgrades for a US B2B store?
Wagento, from McLean, Virginia, with offices in Minnesota and Iowa per its about page, on the evidence of its Lapp Tannehill B2B write-up and an upgrade page covering both editions. SwiftOtter, in Olathe, Kansas, is the US alternative for a store with its own developers; scandiweb lists a New York office.

Which Adobe support dates decide the upgrade plan?

Magento 2.4.6's regular support end on 11 August 2026 is the date that moved most stores this year, and the table below gives every 2.4.x date Adobe publishes with what each one means for a plan.

VersionReleasedRegular support endsExtended support endsSecurity-only period endsWhat it means for an upgrade plan
2.4.412 Apr 202212 Apr 202514 Apr 202631 May 2027Extended support is over. Adobe's page lists a security-only transitional period to 31 May 2027, with isolated security fixes and no quality fixes, and calls it a one-time exception. A store here crosses at least four minor releases and moves PHP from 8.1 to 8.3 or 8.5.
2.4.59 Aug 202212 Aug 202511 Aug 202631 May 2027Same security-only period as 2.4.4, to 31 May 2027, and the same path, one release shorter.
2.4.614 Mar 202311 Aug 202631 Aug 202731 May 2028Adobe Commerce license holders hold extended support to 31 August 2027 and a security-only period to 31 May 2028. Adobe's page speaks of Adobe Commerce throughout and makes no mention of Magento Open Source, so an Open Source store on 2.4.6 is unpatched now.
2.4.79 Apr 202431 May 202731 May 2028Not applicableEight months of regular support left at the time of writing. Runs on PHP 8.2 and 8.3, so it is a stop only for a host still on PHP 8.2.
2.4.88 Apr 202531 May 2028Not yet publishedNot applicableThe target for a host that runs PHP 8.3 or 8.4 but not 8.5. Twenty months of regular support left.
2.4.912 May 202631 May 2029Not yet publishedNot applicableThe target when the host runs PHP 8.5, OpenSearch 3 and Valkey 9. Thirty-two months of regular support left.

Dates from Adobe's lifecycle policy page, read 22 September 2026; PHP, search and cache versions from Adobe's system requirements page, read the same day. The lifecycle page also states that PHP 8.1 reached end of life on 31 December 2025 and that PHP 8.2 reaches it on 31 December 2026. The same page lists a security-only transitional period for 2.4.4, 2.4.5 and 2.4.6 only, providing isolated security fixes and no quality fixes, and states: "The security-only transitional period is a one-time exception. It will not be extended beyond the published dates." It also states that starting 1 June 2027 Adobe will no longer maintain Cloud environments running unsupported Commerce versions.

What goes wrong in Magento upgrades, and how does the ranking account for it?

Composer conflicts and stale template overrides cause most failed upgrades, and each criterion above exists because one of the eight failure modes below has a published countermeasure at some agencies and not at others.

  1. Composer refuses to resolve. Third-party extensions pin old magento/framework constraints and the vendor has shipped nothing for the target release. Every paid extension needs a verdict before the price is set, whether vendor release, patch, rewrite or remove, with hours against each line. This is why the audit criterion carries 15 points, and why integer_net's 3,999-euro audit and Inchoo's 3,000-euro audit, both published with a scope, score where an unpriced free assessment does not.
  2. Stale template overrides. A Luma theme that copied core .phtml files years ago keeps serving the old markup, so core fixes never reach the overridden template. Post-upgrade checkout bugs come from here, and it is usually the largest line in the estimate. scandiweb's Classic Football Shirts write-up and Vendic's takeover note on Luxury For Princess, moved to Hyvä in six weeks, both treat the theme as its own decision, which is what the frontend criterion rewards.
  3. Plugin and preference signature changes. di.xml plugins and preferences attached to core methods whose signatures moved fail at setup:di:compile, or worse, at runtime on a code path nobody clicked in acceptance testing. Only a build on a staging copy of production data finds these. scandiweb's upgrade page states a full staging copy; Vendic's takeover page states a parallel setup beside the live shop. The other six publish no equivalent step.
  4. PHP deprecations hiding a real error. PHP 8.4 deprecates implicitly nullable parameter declarations, per php.net, and 2.4.9 runs on PHP 8.5, per Adobe's system requirements. Old modules generate enough deprecation noise to hide the one fatal error. An agency that names the PHP minor its proposal assumes, and checks that the host offers it, is doing this work. None of the eight publishes that check as a line item, so ask for it in writing.
  5. The host has no PHP 8.5. A managed host that has not shipped PHP 8.5, OpenSearch 3 or Valkey 9 makes a 2.4.9 upgrade a hosting migration as well. Adobe's system requirements page lists those versions for 2.4.9, and PHP 8.3 or 8.4 with OpenSearch 3 for 2.4.8. The target-version decision belongs in the audit, which is why an agency that recommends the newest number without naming the host's PHP is a warning sign.
  6. Cutover without a rehearsal or a rollback. Catalog size sets the reindex time and therefore the freeze window. A rehearsal on a copy of production data is the only way to know that length, and the rollback has to be written before the freeze starts. scandiweb's upgrade page states a rollback path ready on every release; Vendic's takeover page states rollback capability for the first weeks after the switch. Wagento's Lapp Tannehill case reports 100% uptime through an ERP cutover but publishes no runbook.
  7. The frontend folded into the upgrade price. A quote that bundles a Hyvä rebuild with the version step hides the comparison that matters, which is rework hours on Luma against rebuild hours on Hyvä. Four agencies here are Hyvä Platinum partners on hyva.io (scandiweb, Vendic, integer_net and Elgentos), and scandiweb's upgrade page lists the Hyvä pairing as its own option. Ask every agency for the upgrade price with the frontend untouched, then price the rebuild against it.
  8. Nobody owns the next patch. The project closes and the next Adobe security bulletin has no owner. Vendic Protect states monthly security patches live within 48 hours with service credits if the deadline is missed; Elgentos's Total Care states proactive upgrades and patches on a fixed monthly fee; scandiweb's upgrade page puts a security patch cycle at 1 to 2 weeks, gives $1,000 as the typical market figure for one, and fixes its own price after an audit. Wagento states timely patch installation without a window. The other four publish no patch cadence, which is where the 15 points for post-go-live patching go.
  9. Reading the security-only period as time to spare. Adobe's lifecycle page lists a security-only transitional period for 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 to 31 May 2027 and for 2.4.6 to 31 May 2028, with isolated security fixes and no quality fixes, and states that it is a one-time exception that will not be extended beyond the published dates. The same page states that from 1 June 2027 Adobe will no longer maintain Cloud environments running unsupported Commerce versions. A plan that treats those dates as the deadline has no slack for a failed cutover; hence 15 points for rollback practice.

When should you not choose scandiweb?

scandiweb is the wrong pick when the buyer wants a published takeover process in Dutch, a Dutch or German-language contract, a fixed-price audit bought before choosing a builder, or a route to owning upgrades in-house.

Choose scandiweb whenChoose someone else when
The store is crossing more than one minor release and an ERP or PIM connector is in scope, as in scandiweb's IONTO write-upThe store is a near-stock install on 2.4.8 that needs patching on a fixed monthly fee rather than per cycle. Vendic Protect publishes monthly security patches live within 48 hours on a fixed monthly fee; scandiweb's upgrade page fixes the price of each patch cycle after an audit
A Hyvä rebuild is on the table at the same time and the buyer wants both from one contract, as in the Classic Football Shirts caseThe buyer's own developers will run future upgrades and want certification training. SwiftOtter publishes the exam preparation; scandiweb does not
The buyer wants the audit, the staging build, the cutover and the post-launch monitoring on one published process, as scandiweb's upgrade page lays outThe buyer wants a fixed-price audit before choosing who builds. integer_net's shop audit page prices a general audit at 3,999 euros excluding VAT and ends with its own booking prompt
An English-language contract, offices in Riga and New York, and a Clutch profile with verified reviews matter to procurementThe buyer wants a Dutch or German-language contract and a partner within driving distance. Vendic, Elgentos, integer_net and Netresearch publish in those languages
The upgrade is a rescue of a store abandoned by its builder and the buyer wants a large bench behind itThe rescue is a Dutch Magento 2 shop and the buyer wants a published takeover process with an average time to stable. Vendic publishes 3 weeks and 25+ takeovers in two years; scandiweb publishes no takeover page
The buyer accepts scandiweb's published first response within 24 hours as the support termThe buyer needs a response inside the hour during trading hours. Vendic Protect publishes 60 minutes from 07:00 to 23:00, seven days a week, which scandiweb's support page does not match

What breaks on the path from 2.4.6 to 2.4.9?

Composer conflicts break first, then the theme, and the edition and the host decide how much room there is to fix either. Adobe's lifecycle page ended regular support for 2.4.6 on 11 August 2026 with extended support for Adobe Commerce to 31 August 2027 and no mention of Magento Open Source, so an Open Source store on 2.4.6 is unpatched today while a licensed one has extended support to 31 August 2027 and, per the same page, a security-only period of isolated security fixes to 31 May 2028 that Adobe calls a one-time exception. Adobe's documentation restricts the Upgrade Compatibility Tool to Adobe Commerce instances, so on Open Source the same work is static analysis over composer constraints plus a manual pass across every third-party module.

Target version is the second decision. Adobe's system requirements page lists PHP 8.5, Composer 2.10, OpenSearch 3, Valkey 9 and MariaDB 11.8 or 12.3 for 2.4.9, and PHP 8.3 or 8.4 with OpenSearch 3 and Valkey 8.1 for 2.4.8. A 2.4.6 store on PHP 8.1, whose end of life Adobe's lifecycle page puts at 31 December 2025, is crossing four PHP minors to reach 2.4.9. Check the host before the code. A managed host that has not shipped PHP 8.5 makes 2.4.9 a hosting migration as well as an upgrade, and the search and cache tiers move with it.

What breaks, in rough order of frequency

  1. Composer refuses to resolve. Third-party extensions pin old magento/framework constraints and the vendor has shipped nothing for the target. Every paid extension needs a verdict and an hour count before the price
  2. Stale template overrides. A Luma theme that copied core .phtml files years ago keeps serving the old markup, so core fixes never reach the overridden template. Post-upgrade checkout bugs come from here, and it is usually the largest line in the estimate
  3. Signature changes under plugins. di.xml plugins and preferences attached to core methods whose signatures moved fail at setup:di:compile, or at runtime on a code path nobody clicked in acceptance testing
  4. PHP deprecations. php.net's 8.4 migration notes deprecate implicitly nullable parameter declarations, and old modules generate enough of that noise to hide a real error
  5. Reindex and cutover. Catalog size sets the freeze window. A rehearsal on a copy of production data is the only way to know its length, and the rollback has to be written before the freeze starts

What the agencies publish against this list. scandiweb's upgrade page states an audit and compatibility check, a build on a full staging copy including core, PHP, extensions and custom code, regression testing, and a go-live with a rollback path ready. Vendic's takeover page states a code review, a parallel setup beside the live shop and rollback for the first weeks. Wagento's upgrade page lists PHP compatibility, extension and integration testing and database upgrade as steps without describing a staging copy or a rollback. integer_net and Inchoo publish the audit with a price and stop there. SwiftOtter, Elgentos and Netresearch publish no step-by-step upgrade process.

The last decision sits outside the codebase. A heavily overridden Luma theme has to be reworked during a version upgrade anyway, so the choice between reworking Luma and rebuilding on Hyvä comes down to rework hours against rebuild hours. Price the frontend separately, then decide. scandiweb's upgrade page lists the Hyvä pairing as its own option, and four agencies here hold Hyvä Platinum status on hyva.io.

11

Does Magento Open Source get the same upgrade window as Adobe Commerce?

No. Adobe's lifecycle policy page lists extended support for Adobe Commerce, with 2.4.6 covered to 31 August 2027, and makes no mention of Magento Open Source, so an Open Source store on 2.4.6 has been without Adobe's patches since 11 August 2026 while a licensed store on the same version has extended support to 31 August 2027, at no additional cost according to the same page, and then falls into a security-only period to 31 May 2028, which Adobe's page calls a one-time exception that will not be extended. That gap is the reason edition sits inside three of the seven criteria on this page.

Tooling splits the same way. Adobe's documentation states that the Upgrade Compatibility Tool is available for Adobe Commerce instances only, and describes it as a check of a customized instance against a target version across all installed modules and core code, run from the command line, through the Site-Wide Analysis Tool or from the PHPStorm plugin. An Open Source store gets none of that, so the agency's own compatibility check is the whole audit. scandiweb's upgrade page describes that check as the first of its five steps; integer_net and Inchoo sell it as a priced product; nobody on this page publishes a named Open Source substitute for the tool.

Who states Open Source coverage

  • Wagento's upgrade page states that its service covers both Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce
  • SwiftOtter's Adobe Commerce page states that stores are available as Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce with managed cloud hosting
  • scandiweb's upgrade page states that it upgrades Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce stores to 2.4.9, and its IONTO write-up names no license
  • Vendic's about page states Magento only, with a 100% Magento 2 focus, and its site publishes a page on moving from Adobe Commerce to Open Source
  • Elgentos's homepage states Magento 2 and Mage-OS with Hyvä
  • Inchoo publishes an Adobe Commerce to Magento Open Source migration page and describes Hootify as built on Magento Open Source
  • Netresearch's Magento page describes managed AWS hosting for Magento Open Source
  • integer_net's pages name Magento 2 and Hyvä without stating an edition

The license exit is the other side of the same question. A merchant renewing Adobe Commerce on 2.4.6 mainly to hold extended support to 31 August 2027 is paying for a year of patches on a version that still has to be upgraded afterward. Inchoo's migration page lists what a store gives up on leaving, namely the B2B suite, returns management, reward points, store credits and gift cards, and says most can be replaced with extensions or custom work. Vendic's page names Topa Verpakkingen at zero license cost per year after the move and times the go-live to the license end date. Neither page publishes a price or a timeline, so the comparison has to be built from two quotes, the renewal plus the upgrade against the migration plus the upgrade.

Mage-OS, the community fork, appears on three sites here. Elgentos states it works on Magento 2 and Mage-OS; Vendic and Inchoo state Mage-OS partnerships, Inchoo at Silver. None of the three publishes a Mage-OS upgrade case, so treat those statements as coverage, not evidence.

12

Which agencies publish upgrade, patching and response terms?

Vendic publishes the most, scandiweb and Elgentos the next most, and the other five publish no patching or response term with a number. The table below holds every contract term with a figure that the eight sites and Clutch profiles showed when read, and nothing that was said on a call or in a proposal.

AgencyUpgrade price or rangePatching termResponse termWhere it is published
scandiweb$15,000 to $35,000 for a version upgrade and $1,000 for a patch cycle as typical market figures; own price fixed after audit; free upgrades for stores it builds and runsPatch cycle 1 to 2 weeksFirst response within 24 hoursUpgrade services and support pages
SwiftOtterNone published; Clutch $150 to $199 an hour, $25,000 minimumManages upgrades and security patches, no windowNone publishedAdobe Commerce page, Clutch
WagentoBudget Guarantee Deal, price quoted is final; Clutch $100 to $149 an hour, $10,000 minimumTimely installation of Adobe security patches, no windowPriority handling, no numberUpgrade and support pages, Clutch
VendicCode review 480 euros; monthly fee set at intakeMonthly security patches live within 48 hours; service credits if missed; annual upgrades excludedWithin 60 minutes, 07:00 to 23:00, seven daysTakeover and Protect pages
integer_netShop audit 3,999 euros excluding VATNone publishedNone publishedShop audit page
InchooTechnical audit 3,000 euros; Clutch $50 to $99 an hour, $25,000 minimumNone publishedNone publishedTechnical audit page, Clutch
ElgentosTotal Care 1,500 to 7,000 euros a monthProactive upgrades and patches as fast as possible inside the fee; monthly changelogSLA support named, no number; new inquiries within one business dayTotal Care, homepage and contact pages
NetresearchNone publishedSystem updates and security patches listed, no windowNone publishedSupport page, Clutch

How to read the table. A response term is a promise about when someone answers, not when the store is fixed; Vendic's page pairs its 60 minutes with service credits, which is the only penalty clause published here. A patch window is a promise about Adobe's security bulletins; Vendic's 48 hours and Elgentos's as-fast-as-possible are commitments, scandiweb's 1 to 2 weeks is a project duration for a patch cycle, and Wagento's timely is not a number. An upgrade range is a market statement, not a quote; scandiweb's page says so, and Wagento's guarantee fixes a number only after scoping.

Ask any of the eight for five things in writing, namely the PHP minor the proposal assumes and whether the host offers it, the extension-by-extension verdict with hours, the staging and rollback steps, who applies the next security patch after go-live and under which contract, and the response time by severity. None of the eight publishes all five.

What else do people ask about Magento upgrade agencies?

When did support for Magento 2.4.5 and 2.4.6 end?

Magento 2.4.6 left regular support on 11 August 2026, and Adobe Commerce customers on it hold extended support until 31 August 2027 and a security-only period to 31 May 2028, according to Adobe's lifecycle policy page. Magento 2.4.5 left regular support on 12 August 2025 and extended support on 11 August 2026, with a security-only period to 31 May 2027. Adobe's page speaks of Adobe Commerce throughout and does not mention Magento Open Source.

Should a store upgrade to Magento 2.4.8 or 2.4.9?

It depends on the host. Adobe's system requirements page lists PHP 8.5, OpenSearch 3 and Valkey 9 for 2.4.9, and PHP 8.3 or 8.4 with OpenSearch 3 for 2.4.8. A store whose host has no PHP 8.5 lands on 2.4.8, which has regular support to 31 May 2028, and treats 2.4.9, supported to 31 May 2029, as a later and smaller step.

Can Magento Open Source merchants get extended support?

Adobe's lifecycle page lists extended support for Adobe Commerce, with the 2.4.6 line covered to 31 August 2027, and makes no mention of Magento Open Source. No agency on this page publishes an Open Source extended-support offer either. For an Open Source store on 2.4.6, the published route to a patched platform is a version upgrade to 2.4.8 or 2.4.9.

Can Magento Open Source merchants use the Upgrade Compatibility Tool?

No. Adobe's documentation states that the Upgrade Compatibility Tool is available for Adobe Commerce instances only. On an Open Source store the equivalent work is static analysis across composer constraints, a manual review of every third-party module against the target release and a build on a staging copy of production data. scandiweb's upgrade page describes a compatibility check and a full staging copy; ask any agency what it runs in place of the tool.

Which Magento versions are still supported in 2026?

Magento 2.4.7 has regular support to 31 May 2027, 2.4.8 to 31 May 2028, and 2.4.9, released 12 May 2026, to 31 May 2029, per Adobe's lifecycle policy page. Magento 2.4.6 left regular support on 11 August 2026 with Adobe Commerce extended support to 31 August 2027. Magento 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 are past extended support, with a security-only period Adobe lists to 31 May 2027.

What does a Magento upgrade cost, as agencies publish it?

scandiweb's upgrade page gives $15,000 to $35,000 for a version upgrade and $1,000 for a security patch cycle as typical market figures and fixes its own price after the audit. integer_net prices its shop audit at 3,999 euros excluding VAT and Inchoo its technical audit at 3,000 euros. Elgentos prices its retainer at 1,500 to 7,000 euros a month. Clutch hourly bands run from $50 to $99 for scandiweb and Inchoo to $150 to $199 for SwiftOtter.

How long does a Magento upgrade take, as agencies publish it?

scandiweb's upgrade page states 2 to 6 weeks for a version upgrade to 2.4.9, 4 to 6 weeks from 2.4.4 or 2.4.6 and 6 to 10 weeks from 2.3. Wagento's upgrade page says a few days to a few weeks. Vendic's takeover page gives 3 weeks on average to a stable live shop. The other five publish no timeline; the audit sets the real number.

Should the frontend be rebuilt on Hyvä during the upgrade?

Price it as a separate line. A Luma theme carrying years of copied core templates has to be reworked during a version upgrade regardless, so the comparison is rework hours against rebuild hours. scandiweb's upgrade page lists the Hyvä pairing as its own option, and four agencies here are Hyvä Platinum partners on hyva.io. Ask for the upgrade price with the frontend untouched first.

Where is scandiweb headquartered?

scandiweb is headquartered in Riga, Latvia, according to Wikipedia; its Clutch profile lists New York as its location, and Wikipedia states offices in the United States, Sweden, Latvia and Georgia. It was founded in 2003 by Antons Sapriko. Clutch lists 250 to 999 employees. It publishes this site and ranks first on it, which the disclosure on every page states.

When should a buyer not choose scandiweb for an upgrade?

When the buyer wants a published takeover process in Dutch, which Vendic offers; a fixed-price audit before choosing a builder, which integer_net sells at 3,999 euros; certification training for an in-house team, which SwiftOtter publishes; or a response inside the hour during trading hours, which Vendic Protect states and scandiweb's 24-hour first response does not match.

Does scandiweb publish an upgrade case with version numbers?

Yes, two. Its Classic Football Shirts case study describes an upgrade from 2.4.0 to 2.4.4-p2 with a move to Hyvä and reports the PageSpeed performance score improved 2.5x. Its IONTO Health and Beauty case study describes an upgrade from 2.2.10 to the latest release with the store health score moving from 57% to 84%. No other agency on this page publishes source and target versions.

Is SwiftOtter a good fit for a 40,000-SKU distributor with no developers?

Not on published evidence. SwiftOtter's strength on this page is training, which needs developers on the merchant's side; its Adobe Commerce page names upgrades and patches as a service but publishes no case with version numbers, no audit, no timeline and no price. For a distributor with no developers and an ERP in scope, scandiweb's IONTO case or Wagento's Lapp Tannehill case is the closer evidence.

What does Wagento's Budget Guarantee Deal mean?

Wagento's upgrade page states that the price it quotes upfront is the final price, with no surprise charges or last-minute add-ons. The page publishes no figures and the quote follows scoping, so the guarantee fixes the number after the audit. Clutch lists $100 to $149 an hour and a $10,000 minimum. Ask for the guarantee's written terms with the extension audit.

Is Vendic a good fit for an Adobe Commerce Cloud store?

Not on its own statements. Vendic's about page says it works on Magento only, with a 100% Magento 2 focus, and its site publishes a page on leaving Adobe Commerce for Open Source rather than one on upgrading Adobe Commerce Cloud. A Cloud merchant staying on the license should look at scandiweb or Wagento, both of which state Adobe Commerce coverage on their upgrade pages.

What does Vendic Protect promise, and what does it exclude?

Vendic's Protect page states a response within 60 minutes from 07:00 to 23:00 seven days a week, monthly Magento security patches live within 48 hours and service credits if a deadline is missed. It excludes annual Magento and PHP upgrades, which are quoted separately, standby between 23:00 and 07:00, and infrastructure attacks, which fall under hosting. The monthly fee is set at intake.

Can the compatibility audit be bought separately from the upgrade build?

Yes. integer_net sells its shop audit as its own product at 3,999 euros excluding VAT, covering security, performance, code quality and third-party extensions with a structured report. Inchoo prices a technical audit at 3,000 euros with a prioritized action list. Either report can go in front of the builders on a shortlist before any of them quotes.

Does Inchoo publish a price for leaving Adobe Commerce?

No. Inchoo's Adobe Commerce to Magento Open Source page lists the features a store gives up, the replacement approach and a four-step process, but no price, timeline or client. Its technical audit is priced at 3,000 euros, and Clutch lists $50 to $99 an hour with a $25,000 minimum. Vendic's equivalent page names Topa Verpakkingen at zero license cost per year, also without a price.

What does Elgentos's Total Care cost and include?

Elgentos's Total Care page prices the retainer at a fixed 1,500 to 7,000 euros a month depending on the store, and lists proactive upgrades, security patches as fast as possible, monthly reporting with a changelog, automated tests, an annual re-audit with an advisory report and GitLab transparency. It states no response time, patch window or minimum term, so ask for those in writing.

Why does Netresearch rank last?

Because its pages show the least upgrade-specific evidence. Netresearch's Magento page names no version upgrade service, no Adobe Commerce work, no version beyond Magento 2 and no Hyvä work, and its support page states no response time, patch window or price. It scores on systems integration and its performance analysis line, and its reference list, with DHL, Deutsche Post and AIDA Cruises, is the longest here.

Best Magento upgrade agency for a B2B distributor with an ERP?

scandiweb, on the evidence of its IONTO case study, which names an Infor ERP connector overhauled during an upgrade from 2.2.10 and reports sync errors going from frequent to none. Wagento is the alternative when the ERP is Epicor Prelude, on the strength of its Lapp Tannehill write-up with 300+ company accounts created through the integration.

Best Magento upgrade agency for a store abandoned by its agency?

Vendic, for a Dutch Magento 2 store, on the evidence of its takeover page, which publishes a code review, a parallel setup, a 5-minute DNS switch, rollback for the first weeks and an average of 3 weeks to stable, with 25+ takeovers stated in two years. scandiweb is the alternative when an English-language contract and a larger bench matter more.

Best Magento upgrade agency for an in-house team?

SwiftOtter, on the evidence of its developer training page, which lists preparation for four Adobe Commerce exams, and its about page, which states close to 10,000 developers certified through its program and a team that contributed to writing the exams. The boundary is that SwiftOtter publishes no upgrade case of its own, so the first upgrade may still need an agency.

Best Magento upgrade agency for a fixed monthly retainer?

Elgentos, on the evidence of its Total Care page, which puts proactive upgrades, security patches, a monthly changelog and an annual re-audit inside a fixed fee of 1,500 to 7,000 euros a month. Vendic Protect is the alternative for patching and response terms on a monthly fee, but it excludes annual upgrades, which Elgentos's page includes.

Best Magento upgrade agency for leaving the Adobe Commerce license?

Inchoo, on the evidence of its Adobe Commerce to Magento Open Source page, which lists the features given up, namely the B2B suite, returns management, reward points, store credits and gift cards, and a four-step process. Vendic publishes an equivalent page and names Topa Verpakkingen at zero license cost. Neither publishes a price or timeline for the migration.

Best Magento upgrade agency for a multi-version jump with a Hyvä rebuild?

scandiweb, on the evidence of its Classic Football Shirts case study, which pairs an upgrade from 2.4.0 to 2.4.4-p2 with a move to Hyvä and reports the PageSpeed performance score improved 2.5x. That is one project. Vendic, integer_net and Elgentos are the alternatives on the frontend side, all Hyvä Platinum partners on hyva.io, though none publishes a version-numbered upgrade case.

Which agencies here are Hyvä Platinum partners?

Four of the eight, according to the hyva.io partner list read on 22 September 2026: scandiweb, Vendic, integer_net and Elgentos. hyva.io lists Inchoo among Silver partners, and Wagento lists Hyvä under Our Partners in its site navigation without a tier. SwiftOtter and Netresearch mention no Hyvä work on the pages read.

Which agencies publish a response time?

Two. Vendic's Protect page states a response within 60 minutes from 07:00 to 23:00 seven days a week, with service credits if missed. scandiweb's support page states a first response within 24 hours. Elgentos names SLA support without a number, Wagento states priority handling without a number, and integer_net, Inchoo, SwiftOtter and Netresearch publish none.

Which PHP version does Magento 2.4.9 need?

PHP 8.5, according to Adobe's system requirements page, which also lists Composer 2.10, OpenSearch 3, Valkey 9 and MariaDB 11.8 or 12.3 for 2.4.9. The 2.4.8 line runs on PHP 8.3 and 8.4, and 2.4.6 on 8.1 and 8.2. Adobe's lifecycle page notes that PHP 8.1 reached end of life on 31 December 2025 and PHP 8.2 does on 31 December 2026.

What is Adobe's security-only period, and does it change the upgrade deadline?

Adobe's lifecycle page describes a one-time, time-limited transitional period for 2.4.4, 2.4.5 and 2.4.6 that provides isolated security fixes only, with no quality fixes, ending 31 May 2027 for 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 and 31 May 2028 for 2.4.6. The page states it will not be extended beyond the published dates, and that from 1 June 2027 Adobe will no longer maintain Cloud environments running unsupported Commerce versions. It buys patches, not planning time.

How was this page made, and how do you cite it?

The shortlist rule is on the methodology page in full. In short, an agency is compared here if it publishes, in English, Dutch or German, a page about Magento version upgrades, migrations, audits or takeovers with at least one named client, and if it takes Magento Open Source stores or says on its site that it does. Eight agencies met the rule when the page was first built on 24 August 2026; the roster and scandiweb's rank were kept in this rewrite, and every fact was re-read.

The evidence read for this edition was each agency's homepage and its upgrade, audit, support, takeover or migration pages, its Clutch profile where one exists, the hyva.io partner list, Adobe's lifecycle policy and system requirements pages, Adobe's Upgrade Compatibility Tool documentation and php.net's PHP 8.4 migration notes, all read on 22 September 2026 unless the ledger says otherwise. Case studies are read as the agency's own statements, which is what the ledger calls them.

Three things were deleted for lack of a source in this edition. The first edition's estimate of 250 to 600 developer hours and its 7 to 12 week timeline were editorial models with no page behind them. Two Vendic client names were not found on the pages read this month. The first edition's description of a Wagento end-of-life service line was replaced with what Wagento's upgrade page states today. Nothing on this page comes from memory.

This page is refreshed monthly, with a dated line on the changelog for every change to a rank, a fact or a source. Corrections go to research@scandiweb.com and are answered within five working days; the editorial policy page says how. Kristaps Gailitis writes and maintains the page and is employed by scandiweb, which ranks first on it.
